New EMT vehicles have everything modern urgent care can offer

Carried out through the project “Emergency response of Republic of Serbia to COVID-19”, Department of Emergency Medicine of Kragujevac received nine vehicles from the Ministry of Health: four reanomobiles, two vans, one car, and one vehicle with ramp attachment for disabled people.

The Mayor of Kragujevac Nikola Dašić visited the Department of Emergency Medicine with his associates today, witnessing the possibilities and importance of the new medical vehicles for the work of doctors and care for patients.

I am impressed with what I have seen, because these vehicles with all the equipment necessary represent their own micro-clinics, said Mayor Dašić. They are equipped for field-work as well as direct communication with the base-center, so that when a patient arrives, a team of medical personnel is ready to respond the quickest way possible. I believe, Mayor Dašić added, that there are not many generations that remember such an investment, which shows that the Republic of Serbia is a strong, responsible country which takes care of its health system. The greatest delight is that the vehicles will be used by the medical workers who have given all their best during the pandemic. They worked day and night with no rest, under heavy gear that further hindered them in their work. With nine new vehicles they have as great conditions for work as anywhere in the West. The average age of a vehicle was 17 years, which has now been considerably repaired, and the Ambulance is equipped to serve our citizens – said Mayor Dašić.

The four reanomobiles are fully equipped with everything that modern urgent medicine can offer, said Dr. Gordana Đokić, the director of the Department of Emergency Medicine. With defibrillators, aspirators, and respirators, utilized by the competent doctors of the Department, the transport and care of the most compromised patients can be done to its fullest extent. The fifth ambulance car Fiat Ducato, that has the basic equipment, will be further equipped with a defibrillator and an ECG, and it will be sent out in the field. The all-wheel passenger car will be used as a field vehicle for patients outside the city who are, due to the gravity of their state, in need of dialysis. The two vans are intended for the patients that need transport, chaperoning to dialysis, hyperbaric chamber treatment, or further transport to Belgrade.

For the disabled, we have provided a special vehicle with ramp-attachment. Our state provided such ambulance vehicles to the departments and providers in other cities so that we will, in cooperation with them, work on designing a Protocol so that every patient in any city may get the same care – said Dr. Đokić.
