H.E. Niklas Lindqvist, Ambassador of Finland to the Republic of Serbia, was on a working visit to Kragujevac today. On this occasion, Mayor Nikola Dašić and his associates organized a reception where, among other things, the possibilities of deepening the cooperation in the fields of economy, education and digitalization were discussed. The reception at the City Hall was an opportunity to exchange experiences and initiate joint projects that would contribute to the further development of the local economy and education.
Mayor Dašić thanked Ambassador Lindqvist for his visit and pointed out that Kragujevac is open to cooperation with Finland in various fields.
Today we had very useful and productive talks with H.E. the Ambassador of Finland to the Republic of Serbia. We are pleased that the Ambassador visited Kragujevac and had the opportunity to familiarize himself with our city, its potentials and development plans, said Mayor Dašić. Finland is recognized in the European Union for the development of the IT sector and the development of "smart cities", and we are very interested in exchanging experiences and establishing cooperation in these areas. We are especially proud, Mr. Dašić added, that the Ambassador will have the opportunity to visit the State Data Center in Kragujevac, which represents an important resource for the development of the digital economy in Serbia and the region, and that during the visit he will hear more about the Innovation District, as a particularly important project for this region.
Ambassador Lindqvist pointed out that he had a very successful meeting with the Mayor and his associates and that he is looking forward to new collaborations and projects in areas where our countries can learn a lot from each other.
Before the reception at the City Hall, Ambassador Lindqvist attended the ceremonial opening of the "Climate Crusaders" Mobility Program at the "Treći kragujevački bataljon" Elementary School, which is being implemented under the auspices of the Finnish National Agency, and which aims to develop innovative approaches in education, in order to encourage an ecologically responsible attitude towards the environment.
