As part of an international exchange programme for the best-performing primary school students, Kragujevac students and accompanying teachers who spent this summer in Romania, in the twin city of Pitești and the Black Sea resort of Vama Veche, today shared their impressions of the trip with Dušan Aleksić, Member of the City Council for Education, at a reception held at the City Hall.
This is another successful exchange between the two twin cities, whose cooperation has lasted for more than half a century and which actually began at this very level, through student visits and exchanges, Aleksić said. He recalled that students from Kragujevac traditionally visit Pitești and the Romanian coast, while students from Pitești visit our city and Zlatibor, taking the opportunity to discover different parts of Serbia along the way.
This type of cooperation is extremely important because it offers young people an invaluable experience that, as they themselves say, will remain in their memories forever. Not only because of what they saw there, but also because students from different schools grew closer. Many of them are now attending the same secondary schools, some are in the same classes or on the same shift, continuing their friendships and sharing memories of this trip. This is the best proof that this exchange is meaningful and that it should be preserved, improved and further developed in the years ahead, Aleksić said.
These children are the best of their generation, and through their behaviour, education and upbringing, they have shown that they were selected for good reason. In Pitești, we were welcomed by exceptionally kind hosts who also organised visits to museums and cultural and historical landmarks during our stay. Such hospitality is rarely encountered, and wherever we went, we were given a very warm welcome, said accompanying teacher Violeta Mišić, a physics teacher at “Svetozar Marković” Primary School.
Stressing that the children got along, understood one another and cooperated extremely well, Ms. Mišić concluded that the friendships formed there would last for a long time, adding that it had been a real pleasure to accompany such students.
