Ambassador of the Republic of Italy in Belgrade, H.E. Luca Gori visited Kragujevac today, where he discussed future cooperation, especially in the field of technology, with Mayor Nikola Dašić and his associates.
I am glad to be in Kragujevac today. Kragujevac is a very important city from the aspect of cooperation between Italy and Serbia. A large number of our companies are active in your city and we are very satisfied with what this cooperation has brought so far. What we are most interested in is investing in the development of robotics, given that there is a University here that is very competent as well as industry. Next year, we plan to organize a big event, a congress where we will present something more concrete regarding the topic, as well as projects on which we can work together - said the Italian ambassador.
Mayor Nikola Dašić pointed out that the economic ties between Kragujevac and Italy are very strong and that around 50 Italian companies are currently operating in our city.
The cooperation used to be more focused on Fiat, Iveco, and today we have about 50 Italian companies operating in our city. What was interesting to me is that Italy, although aware of being the biggest business partner in Serbia after Germany, still wants to follow trends in order to reposition itself even better on the market. Next year, they plan to organize a conference that will deal with topics regarding the fields of high-tech industry, artificial intelligence, and robotics. They are interested in cooperation in the field of technology at a higher level. Kragujevac has something to offer as the first industrial city in the Balkans. There is our University, Data Center, and Innovation District which is under construction. They plan to perform even more seriously in our area, so they invited us to cooperate in several ways. We also talked about intensifying cooperation with Italian cities with which we already have protocols on cooperation, such as Reggio Emilia and Carrara - said Dašić.
