The City and its opportunities, the standard, economic and living conditions for students and young people, and similar topics were discussed at a meeting of the delegation of the British Embassy in Serbia with Mr. Dejan Ružić, the Deputy Mayor, and Ms. Danka Andonovski, the Chief of Staff to the Mayor of Kragujevac.

Speaking about current, significant projects and investments that are underway, which are placing Kragujevac on the map of modern and comfortable cities for young people, Ružić highlighted that the number of unemployed people had been reduced by 12 thousand in the past ten years. A large number of domestic companies operate successfully in our city, and the support of the local community, the quality of the conditions and a loyal workforce make our city distinguish, which is also confirmed by the fact that the foreign companies reinvest in Kragujevac, Mr. Ružić pointed out.

Mr. Ružić added that Kragujevac was recently named the ninth most promising city for investment in the coming decades in the Financial Times Magazine, in the category of small and medium-sized cities "European Cities and Regions of the Future". The faculties of the University of Kragujevac have special potential, as every academic year generations of experts graduate from various fields, ready to respond to modern conditions and demands of domestic and foreign companies.

The City of Kragujevac is a City with a lot of potential and it was important for us to hear what the priorities of the Mayor of Kragujevac, Mr. Nikola Dašić, and the City administration are, said Mr. Jack Watson, the Second Secretary at the British Embassy in Serbia. Among other things, we discussed the ties between Kragujevac and the United Kingdom, because we want to advance and improve them. For several years, we have been implementing a project under which foreign scholarship holders, after completing their master's studies in Britain, are obliged to spend at least two years working in their home country. So far, around 270 young people have gone through this project, Mr. Watson explained, and highlighted the intention to include other university centers in Serbia in addition to Belgrade.
