The senseless act of a regular military formation will forever remain inscribed both in our collective memory and in the annals of the completely wrong things that war brings, said the Mayor of Kragujevac, Nikola Dašić, expressing his gratitude to the representatives of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the diplomatic corps, the Serbian Army, judicial authorities, educational institutions, the delegations of sister cities and friends, which together with the people of Kragujevac today share the memory of October 21, 82 years ago, when thousands of people were shot in Kragujevac, among them 300 students and teachers of the First Grammar School.
Today, the hearts of the people of Kragujevac are not filled with hatred, but they cherish a great memory, so that the sacrifices of the people who were shot would not be in vain. Kragujevac sends a message of peace to the world. This message is especially important today when we have conflicts between Ukraine and Russia, Palestine and Israel and many other warring regions in the world where no one knows what tomorrow will bring. That is why we are calling from Kragujevac today, and by remembering our 300 high school students, we are sending a message that the life of a single child is more important than any geopolitical or other intentions that are carried out by war, Mayor Nikola Dašić said.
