After the anti-war manifestation "The Great School Class", in the Memorial Complex "Slovak Cemetery" in Šumarice, wreaths were laid by the chargé d'affaires Monika Podsklanova Suhajdova and Colonel Rastislav Skyva, the defense attaché of the Embassy of Slovakia. On behalf of the City of Kragujevac, the tribute to the Slovak and Czech soldiers, who lost their lives at the end of the First World War, was given by Stefan Bulatović, the Mayor's Assistant.

Kragujevac remembers the students and teachers as well as all the innocent victims who were shot on October the 21st in 1941. As a victim city and a city that nurtures the culture of remembrance, we pay tribute to all the victims who fell for our freedom in the long history of warfare. We also remember the brave Slovak and Czech soldiers from the ranks of the occupying Austro-Hungarian army who rebelled against the war and killing and were shot in Kragujevac in 1918, said Bulatović.

He also reminded that this year marks the 100th anniversary of the monument erected in their honor. Every year at this place in June, together with the representatives of Serbia and Slovakia, we remember their courage and sacrifice with the highest honors. Kragujevac and the City of Trenčín, from whose vicinity the largest number of the soldiers were, have signed the Charter on Cooperation and Friendship. We protect the victims of our brotherly people from being forgotten, but we also cherish our friendship, Bulatović said.
