Ambassador of Cyprus in Serbia, H.E. Andreas Fotiu visited Kragujevac today. At the formal reception, which was organized by the President of the City Assembly, Ivica Momčilović, it was concluded that the traditional friendly relations between Serbia and Cyprus are a good basis for establishing cooperation in many areas of mutual interest.
Emphasizing that it is always a pleasure to host representatives of countries that are proven friends of Serbia, Momčilović said that one of the first steps of this cooperation will be the hosting of an exhibition on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the division of Cyprus. Cooperation is possible in the field of education, economy and tourism, and there was also talk about the possibility of twinning Kragujevac with some of the cities in Cyprus with which there are the most spheres of common interests.
The Ambassador of Cyprus thanked for the warm welcome, pointing out that after the reception he created a broader picture of our city, its rich historical and cultural heritage, the life in it, but also of the opportunities and activities in the most important areas of economic development.
We discussed the possibilities of future cooperation between the cities of Cyprus and Kragujevac, and this is something we want to do in the near future. We also considered the possibility of organizing specific events here to enable the people of Kragujevac to get to know Cyprus, which is a friendly country, even better - said the ambassador.
