Bioengineering, bioinformatics, medicine, public health, portable and auxiliary medical devices, new methods of treatment and drugs, as well as the engineering that contributes to all of this, are the topics of this year's IEEE International Conference. For the 24th time the conference brings together more than a hundred lecturers, renowned scientists from the country and the world. During three days 80 scientific works will be presented. The conference is being held in Serbia for the third time, and this year, organized by IEEE in cooperation with the University of Kragujevac and the Institute for Information Technologies, with the support of the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation, Kragujevac is the host for the second time.
On behalf of the City, the organizers and participants of the conference were greeted by Dušan Aleksić, a member of the City Council for Education, who expressed his gratitude to the Institute for Information Technologies and the University for making Kragujevac a meeting place for scientists. Through the exchange of knowledge and experience, these scientists will contribute to making the world a better place for all of us. He pointed out that the conference, which for more than two decades represents a platform for exchanging knowledge and encouraging innovation in dynamic and multidisciplinary scientific fields - this year in the fields of bioengineering, bioinformatics and biomedicine - is an event of exceptional importance in the world of science and innovation, for the academic community and for the City of Kragujevac.
The synergy of the complementary disciplines of bioinformatics, bioengineering and biomedicine and the contribution in the field of medicine, public health, portable and auxiliary devices in medicine, are some of the goals of this year's conference, explained prof. Dr. Nenad Filipović, president of the Conference Organizing Committee and director of the Fund for Science of the Republic of Serbia. He reminded that since the year of 2000 the conference has been held in three locations in the world – the USA, Europe and Asia, and that Serbia was the organizer for the first time in 2015. The conference organized by the association for scientific journals IEEE is of great scientific importance. Its greatest importance is for electrical engineers, bioengineers and bioinformatics experts, concluded prof. Dr. Filipović.
International conferences put the faculties of the University of Kragujevac, and the City of Kragujevac on the map of the world of science, which is very important, because there are universities outside the capital’s with great and significant results in science, said prof. Dr. Vladimir Jakovljević, adviser in the Ministry of Higher Education. He pointed out that the quality of work of the faculties of the University of Kragujevac is indicated by the accredited master's and doctoral studies in bioengineering that have attracted foreign students, as well as that such scientific events can make the faculty even more attractive.
