The traditionally good relations between Kragujevac and the Greek city of Katerini were formalized today with the signing of a Cooperation Agreement at the City Hall. The Agreement, under which the two cities will deepen their cooperation and strengthen their ties, was signed by Nikola Dašić, Mayor of Kragujevac, and Dimos Ioannis, Mayor of Katerini.
I expect substantial cooperation, first in the areas of culture, education, and tourism, and later in other sectors such as industry, because Kragujevac is a significant industrial city, said Dašić, reminding that the first bilateral relations between Greece and Serbia were established as far back as 1867 between Prince Mihailo Obrenović and King Georgios I. We must preserve that tradition of friendship, both as states and as cities, Dašić emphasized.
With today’s Agreement, we are beginning major cooperation - not only within the framework of our cities’ friendly relations but also in areas that will expand further, especially tourism, given the large number of tourists from Serbia who visit our country, said Dimos Ioannis, Mayor of Katerini, noting that there is great potential and goodwill for establishing cooperation in the field of the economy.
