On the occasion of the Constitution Day and the Armed Forces Day of the Slovak Republic, the Ambassador of this friendly country, H.E. Mr. Michal Pavuk, hosted a reception in Belgrade today. On behalf of the City of Kragujevac the reception was attended by Dr. Gordana Damnjanović, Assistant Mayor for Health and Social Protection, Human and Minority Rights, and Mr. Miroslav Petrašinović, Member of Parliament.

The two countries have continuously fostered strong bilateral relations since 1918, and by signing the Agreement on Friendship and Cooperation in 1974, the City of Kragujevac and the Slovak City of Trenčín confirmed their friendly relations.

The two cities foster relations based on mutual respect and continuous cooperation in various fields, and of particular importance is the joint preservation of historical memory, including the maintenance of the Slovak Cemetery in Kragujevac, which represents a place of remembrance for the Slovak soldiers who died in 1918.

Cooperation is also reflected in cultural, educational and sports programs, economy, tourism, as well as through support for joint projects within the framework of European integration. This decades-long relationship is an example of successful international cooperation, based on shared values, dialogue and exchange of experiences.
